Floyd Ray Whatley was born and raised in Opelousas, Louisiana. Following graduation from high school, he spent two years at the Southwestern Louisiana Institute in Lafayette, Louisiana.
He served almost two years with the Third Corps Headquarter Company for the 1st and 4th Armored Division, stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. Following his discharge, he enrolled in Louisiana College and earned his B.A. in 1959. Floyd earned his Masters of Theology from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 1962. Following a year of clinical pastoral education, he entered the Presbyterian Church U.S.A. in 1963. He served churches in Arkansas, Texas, and Louisiana until he retired. During that time, he also served 3 years as the Director of the Presbyterian Westminster Center at Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana.
Since retirement, Floyd has served as interim pastor in three Arkansas churches in the cities of Fairfield Bay, Heber Springs, and Little Rock.
Floyd is married to Patricia (Pat), they have 7 adult children between them and, they will be happy to tell you about their grandchildren!
One final and important piece of information - we understand that Floyd is a wonderful cook - specializing in gumbo!
